Vastu
Vastu is an ancient, traditional Hindu system of architecture, which can be said as Science of Architecture. Vastu described as the principles of design, layouts, ground preparation, measurements and spatial geometry. Vastu Shastra incorporates traditional Hindu beliefs. The designs are intended to integrate the architecture with nature, the relative function of various parts of the structure, and ancient beliefs utilizing geometric patterns and alignments.
Vastu Shastra is the textual part of Vastu Vidya, the latter being the broader knowledge about architecture and design theories from ancient India.
Vastu Vidya (knowledge) is a collection of ideas and concepts, with or without the support of layout diagrams that are not rigid. These ideas and concepts are models for the organization of space and form within a building or collection of buildings based on their function in relation to each others, their usage and to the overall fabric of the Vastu. Ancient Vastu Shastra Principles’ include those in the design of Mandir (temples) and the principles of the design and layout of houses, towns, cities, gardens, roads, waterworks, shop and other public or areas. In a simple way Vastu helps us to balance all energies where we live. It may be our home or our office. For a good Vastu home, we have to see the direction, the surroundings, the gravitational force, magnetic energy, solar energy. Five elements (Earth, Sky, Water, Fire & Air) which represents the directions of our home East, West, Center, North & South. The proper balancing of all elements in the home brings peace, prosperity, health and wealth.
